I released Just Go in December of 2014 (2 years before Here's to My). It was the product of a Kickstarter project, and the amazing Sam Polizzi recorded it and turned into a masterpiece. I wrote the song when I first started dating my boyfriend, kind of assuming the worst of our relationship based on previous bad luck. Thankfully, he's still around and I got an awesome song out of it. The production of this song really helped me realize my showtunes roots, and helped me to embrace the musical theatre qualities of my songwriting. I couldn't be happier to have released Just Go as my debut single, and my only fully orchestrated song.
LYRICS:
Verse 1: I have luck both good and bad.
When things go wrong I understand.
I never pray for trouble,
But there are times it’s out of my hands.
Verse 2: No surprise if things fall apart.
A tear-filled, empty hearted, brand new start.
I never try to live this way.
My head does not agree with my heart.
CHORUS: If you wanna go, just go. I will understand.
If you wanna leave, just leave me. I’ll be alright.
‘Cause I know, oh, things are gonna change.
And when they do, when you wanna go, just go.
Verse 3: I’d never ask you to leave,
But time will show what you don’t see.
Spare me a second thought,
Please. Please.
CHORUS: If you wanna go, just go. I will understand.
If you wanna leave, just leave me. I’ll be alright.
‘Cause I know, oh, things are gonna change.
And when they do, when you wanna go, just...
Bridge: Don’t think this is what I want.
For you to go and not look back, ‘cause it’s not.
And don’t think this is what I need.
My need is you, but all I know, is being alone.
And needing and knowing are two different things,
Just like want and the truth.
CHORUS: If you wanna go, just go. I will understand.
If you wanna leave, just leave me. I’ll be alright.
‘Cause I know, oh, things are gonna change.
And when they do, when you wanna go, just go.
CHORUS: If you wanna go, just go. I will understand.
If you wanna leave, just leave me. I’ll be alright.
‘Cause I know, oh, things are gonna change.
And when they do, when you wanna go, just go.
